dreamtime - peaches and pears
Had a dream last nite, actually it was probably this morning. Fruit--
a beautiful red head with freckles and glowing skin looked so much different from all the others
the dream announcer said - know why he looks different? he eats fruit and veges grown in the garden, not all the processed food we eat every day.
so..spoon out those pears and peaches

Lina the messenger
DePrau's novel, City of Ember is a quick read. Much like "the Giver", two characters in a dystopia, Lina and Doon receive their life-time job assignments after finishing up school at age 12. Lina is a messenger and Doon a mechanic for the Pipeworks, the mechanical system that runs the city's generator. Lina's little sister finds a document and Lina takes it to a friend for help deciphering the instructions. Sharing it with Doon, the two discover a secret about the city of Ember. Along with the food shortages, constant blackouts and a corrupt mayor, Lina and Doon soon discover there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

"that song wus so purdey, it could bring tear to a glass eye"
Folks, this is one for the books, I had never heard that expression before

Onions 'n cilantro
What a great day, planted some onion sets today -red yellow and white. My cilantro is coming up in the kitchen window, the seeds from last year worked! On the lookout for pepper plants soon, gotta find some habeneros. Looking at the seed catalog, quite a variety of wild flowers. Planted two rose bushes yesterdays from mom's yard, along with some Iris she had. One rose bush is over 50 years, it was Aunt Ruby's - then mom's and now ours. Wonder who will take it when I'm gone?

woodchuck AKA groundhog
HOw much wood could a woodchuck wood,
if a woodchuck could chuck wood?
Did the groundhog see her shadow today?
Did he see the shadow in 1841?
The noaa website has a history page on this subject.
No sun here today, just dreary
In Punxsutawney he saw his shadow.

Donna Norvell librarian memory
Donna was a mentor to all of us, a creative, generous lady. She was always thinking about literacy and how to use good books and fun props for summer reading, bringing her exhilarating eagerness for the upcoming summer. When we did dinosaurs for summer reading, Donna had her research cut out for herself; the summer manual was awesome! She had a dino idea for every age child, every library and every librarian. It was always great fun going to the summer reading preview with Donna, she showed us what we could do to promote literacy with a fabulous theme to connect with our kiddos. She shared her enthusiasm in a genuine way, with youth librarians all across the state of Oklahoma. She always made a point to attend our CATS meetings, and would help us with contacts for programming. Donna pulled a group of us together for the Youth Services Advisory Council back in 2001, what a project. Our team built a network of youth librarians across the state with Donna’s help. Donna’s commitment to youth services in Oklahoma is her legacy. Her memory will be our inspiration as we continue to serve the youth of Oklahoma.

workin on a chant
Have another prairie storytelling gig coming up - hurray!
Prairie grass, prairie grass, all around
At one time this was a western town
Sod busters, antelope and coyote…
Sandhill crane as far as the eye could see
All these animals , like you and me
Lived together in harmony.
