Bignonia honors Jean Paul Bignon, librarian to King Louis XV of France

Planted some Oklahoma plants,
Crossvine Bignonia & Elderbery

Crossvine 'Tangerine Beauty'(Bignonia capreolata)For bold spring color to accent a trellis, arbor or fence, few plants can rival 'Tangerine Beauty' crossvine. The evergreen vine is covered with 2" cone shaped blooms in spring in a shade of orange-red outside and yellow inside.

Seems the rain keeps coming, are we out of the drought for now?

Buddy's art

how to pill a cat!

nico had dental work this past week
meds a must!
tools needed to PILL A CAT:
leather gloves, extra long
velcro vest

the vest works good, cats stick to it - lol
the gloves a must, can't have any scratches with summer shirts ya know

Gently, hold the kitta's head (hard to do with the gloves-practice-practice)
opening the tiny mouth and put the dropper in to dispense the meds
squeeze quickly and walk away FAST

baseball season is here

Baseball Count

Four (4) baseballs in a row

I pitched one and away it did go

Three (3) baseballs all in a row

I hit one to the foul line, oh NO!

Two (2) baseballs in a row

I pitched one and it was real slow

One (1) baseball, left to throw

The batter hit it high, it was a fly

No baseballs left, the inning is over

Khorovod

Folkdance workshop with Tom Masterson
- need to practice this sun worship ritual.

Khorovod - Elijah Walked

Elijah walked to Vasilsdoc
there in a field, before his eyes
to him revealed, to his surprise
Through this vast field
there moves a plow
behind the plow, almighty God
And the virgin Mary
food to him did carry
from God desiring
Lord God and master
grant us a good crop
and bountiful harvest.

Everyday

My mother is with me everyday
As I use the voice she gave me-
storytelling and yelling
As I wear the clothes she gave me-
picked just for me, in her own special way
As I corral the dog she gave me-
he reminds me
that
My mother is here everyday

Howls & Growls - workin' on a badger story

Badger lives on the prairie today
Scouting for burrows on his way
Prairie dog hides from his keen eyes
Crow and coyote, have a BIG surprise
Badges round his eyes, gives him his name
Our prairie animals, to him are tame
Badger lives on the prairie today
Watch out for badger, on your way

Badgers have been sighted in at least 38 counties in Oklahoma. Badger Hill in McIntosh county and Badger Mountain in Sequoyah county - wonder where their name came from?

The last of the summer wine or is it whine?

Yes whining for true,
the last of the summer tomatoes
Salsa today - garlic & onion - yellow and red and chilies to boot!
Lots of chilies still kickin'
habeneros are prolific
jalepenos are slowing down
banana and thai are barely making it
Salsa today, the last of the summer whine!

You say tomato and I say tomatoe...

Tomatoes are finished, no more to pick
The heat is giving way to more peppers, though
Salsa's for the summer = red. yellow and green, to name a few
Cilantro and chives are still producing
Picked the last cabbage yesterday, along with the few chocolate habeneros on the vine
Spicy col'slaw = working on a recipe
Scoville units for habeneros is over 150,000
